I was riding up in the elevator with one of my neighbours this morning and she was telling me about how she has had to deliver flyers in this really cold weather. She has to do this (in her opinion) because the speciality TV company she’s been working for didn’t pay her and decided that the position was actually a volunteer position. So I asked her what she’d like to do for work – you never know, I might come across something.
Her answer kinda surprised me “We need to work to pay our bills”.
“Yes”, I countered, “but if money was not a concern and you could do anything you wanted to, what would you like to do for work?”
She had no answer.
This is where we run into problems, ladies. We don’t know what we want and then we’re disappointed, discontent and depressed when our lives are hard or just don’t seem to go our way. How could it? How can you connect with the right networks, get the right interviews or feel fulfilled once we land a job, if you don’t even know what we want.
So here’s your homework:
If money wasn’t a concern and you could do anything in the world for ‘work’, what would it be?
Now, how and where do you need to start?
